Open carnival attracts top swimmers
Swimmers from around the State converged on the South West Sports Centre at the weekend for the Bunbury Open Carnival.
A team of 48 Bunbury Swimming Club members won 22 gold medals, 33 silver and 28 bronze.
Amity Parsons, 9, worked hard to win four gold medals in the 100m butterfly and freestyle, and 50m and 100m backstroke and silver in the 50m freestyle and bronze for her efforts in the 50m butterfly and 100m breaststroke.
Taylor Williams, 15, showed tenacity to earn two gold medals.
She touched first in the 100m butterfly and freestyle.
She also won silver in the 200m breaststroke and 50m freestyle and butterfly.
Taylor also claimed three bronze medals for her efforts in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and 200m backstroke.
Steven Bennett, 16, took home gold medals in the 100m and 200m freestyle, silver medals in the 50m backstroke and freestyle and bronze in the 50m butterfly.
Cian Parsons, 12, was a standout in her breaststroke events, winning gold over 50m and 100m and bronze in her 200m race.
Tahlia Jensen, 14, backed up a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke with five silver medals including three in freestyle events.
Rori Parsons, 11, won gold in the 50m backstroke, silver in the 100m freestyle and backstroke and bronze in the 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle and butterfly.
Liam Wright, 17, won gold in 50m butterfly and silver in the 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle, while 12-year-old Liam Williams won gold in the 50m butterfly.
He also took home a silver and a bronze medal for his swims in the 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle.
Georgia Saffy, 9, claimed a gold medal in the 50m freestyle and bronze in the 50m breaststroke, while Brooke Edwards, 7, won a hat-trick of silver in the 50m freestyle, butterfly and breaststroke.
Alex Saffy, who is eight years old, touched second in the 50m freestyle and butterfly and third in the 50m backstroke.
