Outstanding May in TKO
Bunbury boxing sensation Nathaniel May recorded his fourth professional victory in three months when he defeated Carlos Canales by technical knockout in the first round at Kingsway Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
May dropped Canales with a body shot halfway through round one and the Spaniard was unable to recover before the referee’s 10-count.
May’s trainer Pete Stokes labelled his young boxer’s performance as outstanding.
“I’ve never seen anyone fall so hard and fast after a body shot,” he said.
“Canales was an international fighter with over 30 professional bouts under his belt and I was expecting the fight to go the distance.
“It’s getting difficult to find fighters strong enough to challenge Nathaniel at this stage.”
May and Stokes head to America later this month for a training camp before returning to Australia in January.
May’s next professional fight will likely be in March or April.
