Parry will represent WA Country
Donnybrook’s Simon Parry is the only player from the South West Football League chosen to represent the New Holland State Country Team tomorrow against South Australia Country at Adelaide Oval.
The game will be played as a curtain-raiser to the AFL clash between Adelaide and Essendon, with the final 22-man squad announced on Monday.
Parry had an excellent 2016 Landmark Championship campaign to be named in the All Star team two years in a row.
Coach Craig Walker finalised the 22-man squad with his selection committee following country fixtures over the weekend and said he was confident the assembled squad would turn the tables on its interstate counterparts.
“We have selected a very balanced squad with a focus on players that provide versatility,” he said.
“We have a great deal of experience in the side, but ultimately we have selected a group of guys who have a great desire to represent WA well and win.
“The side features a number of players who have considerable experience at WAFL level.”
Also named in the squad is former Bunbury captain and two-time Hayward Medallist Jesse Gribble, who is joined by Peel Football-Netball League teammates Brad Holmes, Brendon Jones and Paul Mugambwa.
