Patricia celebrates her 100th birthday

South Western Times

To live for 100 years is a goal for many people but one rarely attained.

On Wednesday, September 14, Bunbury resident Patricia Martinson turned 100 with her good spirit and humour intact.

She was hesitant to share her secret for good health, but plainly put it down to having “very little ailments and very little difficulties” throughout her life.

She said it was likely “something to do with what you eat”.

Ms Martinson grew up near Kojonup, before studying science at university and becoming a teacher in 1939.

She also played hockey for Australia in 1936 and 1938.

Family and friends visited Bethanie Fields on Saturday to celebrate with Mrs Martinson.

She said she felt lucky to have “achieved such a length of time” and enjoyed friendship from so many people.
