A semester of work culminated in photography students from Newton Moore Education Support Centre showcasing their skills to the community.

Spencer Street store ITEM hosted Thursday’s exhibition launch, which was held for the second time this year.

The initiative was new this year and teacher Armelle Chaussat hopes it will continue in 2017.

“The first exhibition was a success and we have produced just as many works in semester two,” Ms Chaussat said.

“Some students are leavers and it is a good way for them to finish their time at school.”

New features of the second exhibition included student photographs being made on to mugs and phone covers while a calendar featuring their work was also produced.

Ms Chaussat said these had “almost sold out”, while many of the canvas photographs had also been sold.

One photograph even won the school’s category of the Chris Gibbs Memorial Art Exhibition, which Ms Chaussat described as an “amazing” achievement.

The exhibition was also a collaboration between the education support centre and College Row School.

Opening hours can be found by searching the ITEM Facebook page or contact the school for an appointment.
