Police arrest man asleep in stolen car
Police have charged a man after they found him sleeping in a stolen vehicle in Usher on Tuesday morning.
Bunbury police officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Mal Jones said officers patrolling the area came across the white Toyota Prado parked in an “unusual” spot about 4am Tuesday.
The car was parked on a bush track near Mosedale Avenue in Usher, according to Sen. Sgt Jones.
Police ran a check of the car’s registration and discovered it had been reported stolen the previous day from Bibra Lake.
As officers approached the vehicle, they further discovered a man asleep inside the car.
Sen. Sgt Jones said property including a laptop, digital tablet, smoking implement and mountain bike were also found inside the vehicle.
A 28-year-old Usher man has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and is helping police with further inquiries.
