Police ask for community help filming hoons

Kate FieldingSouth Western Times

South West police are urging residents to “safely” film reckless motorcyclists who have been reported hooning around Bunbury suburbs.

Residents have taken to Withers and Carey Park community groups on social media to vent their frustration over what they believe are unregistered motorcycles being ridden on pathways, laneways and streets.

South West traffic officer-in-charge Sgt Craig Clarke confirmed police were investigating the incidents and called on the community to help stop the hoons.

“It is difficult for us to catch these offenders in the act, we need to have the community on board,” Sgt Clarke said.

“Don’t put yourself at risk, but any footage people can get will help greatly.”

Sgt Clarke said the bikes would be confiscated if they were unregistered.
