Police boost resources in explosives search

Police and Crime Squad detectives have stepped up their search of the Leschenault Estuary after a second package of chemicals was found early this afternoon.

Groups of officers started a search of the surrounding bushlands on foot later in the day to try to uncover any more of the volatile explosive TATP.

It is believed police divers made the discovery near the jetty in the estuary and are now waiting for the bomb squad to arrive.

A 1km exclusion zone has been set up by police to protect the public and nearby homes.

No one has been arrested over the explosives.
