Police search for missing SW prospector

Eaton man Peter O’Shaughnessy has been missing for nearly 24 hours while prospecting near Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Police say Mr O’Shaughnessy, 76, was last seen about 2:30pm yesterday, near the Bullock Holes Timber Reserve, north-east of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

He was last seen wearing a navy or grey t-shirt, khaki pants, brown hiking boots and a West Coast Eagles hat.

A plane will help search the area for the man.

Mr O’Shaughnessy, the father of ABC presenter Gillian O’Shaughnessy, paints at his home studio in Eaton and has had exhibitions at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries.

He was a talented off-spinner for South Bunbury in the 1980s.

Anyone with information on Mr O’Shaughnessy’s whereabouts is asked to contact police on 131 444.
