Last Friday Cookernup residents were invited to give their feedback at Australia Post customer connect sessions.

Since losing its 6219 postcode in 1974, Cookernup has been lumped in with five other communities in the Harvey area all sharing the 6220 postcode.

A sense of identity, concern over fire safety and worry about higher insurance premiums were behind a renewed push by Cookernup locals to get their postcode back.

Australia Post general manager for eCommerce delivery Rod Barnes said it was important the company had feedback from the community.

Residents hope the return of the postcode will mark Cookernup’s 125th anniversary.
