Rain quenches thirsty earth
Bunbury is set to be hit by a downpour tomorrow, with up to 25mm forecast to help moisten the parched soils of the South West.
The city got a taste of what is to come, with 6.2mm falling between 1am and 9am today and more drizzle falling throughout the day.
"The bulk of it you are going to get tomorrow - a considerable drop will fall," Bureau of Meteorology climate information officer John Relf said.
There has been a mere 9.6mm of rain in Bunbury this month, falling short of the November average of 25.8mm.
On Thursday there is forecast to be a "sprinkle" of rain, on Friday there will be a few clouds, then the weekend is expected to be rain-free with temperatures up to 25C, according to Mr Relf.
"Tropical moisture will stream down across the South West, ahead of a deepening low pressure trough - this will generate significant rain for southern parts of the state mid this week," The Weather Channel meteorologist Alex Zadnik said.
Mr Relf said many people may have been throwing their sheets off last night as Bunbury experienced an unseasonally warm night.
At 12.40am it reached 17C in the city.
