An extremely rare and unusual resident is calling a South West estate home.

The albino kangaroo is one of the most popular residents at the Woods on Rendezvous estate near Busselton, according to land developers.

Even more intriguing is the fact the rare creature, who has been nick-named ‘Snowy’, is carrying a joey.

Snowy’s white coat stands out in amazing contrast among fellow kangaroos and native bushland at the estate.

Albino kangaroos are extremely rare in the wild with the creatures’ fate usually a very short lifespan.

The pale skin makes for an easy prey and is susceptible to sun burn and cancer.

Developer Les Lane said Snowy and her joey — who appears to not have inherited the mother’s pale skin — were popular residents in the estate.

"It's incredibly rare to see an albino kangaroo in the wild, but even more rare to see a resident albino kangaroo and her joey living in a residential land estate," Mr Lane said.

"We've nicknamed the kangaroo Snowy, but we haven't yet come up with a name for her joey.

“We are open to ideas for names.”
