Record sprintcar line up for Bunbury

South Western Times

Some of Australia’s best drivers will descend on Quit Bunbury Speedway tomorrow and Saturday for the Boom Logistics Australian 360 Sprintcar Championship.

Robbie Farr will pilot the Monster Energy No.17 Monte Motorsport car while Steven Lines will return to the venue after coming second at the Krikke Boys Shootout last month.

Several eastern State’s competitors will take part including Victorian 360 titleholder Matthew Reed, Tony Moule and Shane Heathcote.

The WA drivers’ list is massive, with all the popular names filling the card, including none other than Mark Wells, the Maiolos, recent back to back WA title winner, Ben Ellement and World Series campaigner Trent Pigdon.

Bunbury Speedway general manager Andrew Roberts said the field would be one of the biggest ever assembled at the track.

“With so many drivers here, you can’t pick a winner,” he said.

“We have never seen so many cars here, we are extremely impressed with the roll up.”

Other fancies include South Australian Luke Dillon, racing for Bunbury’s Diamond Bay Motorsport team.

Dillon won at Kwinana on Saturday night and will go into this weekend’s race as a hot favourite.

Gates open at 4pm and racing starts at 6.30pm on both nights.

Roberts said the feast of action was a reward for loyal speedway fans in Bunbury.

The show signals the second national crown to be on the line at the venue this season after the Dirt Late Models title in January.

The show comes after bumper crowds descended on the speedway last month for the Shootout.

“For an Australian title at the end of the season it’s only fair we reward the fans to come and witness this spectacle,” Roberts said.

“On Saturday night, like in previous events this season, we will admit children under 12 free."

A limited number of pre-sale tickets are available at Ron Krikke Auto Centre in Bunbury.

The show will be the last major event of the season at Bunbury Speedway.
