There will be plenty to sing and dance about at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre during August and September as part of a residency program.

The Perth-based Ochre Contemporary Dance Company will take up residency at BREC for five weeks from August 15, which is the first time the centre has run a program of its kind.

The company will run workshops for the community as it puts together a new work Kaya, which will then travel around the State.

BREC general manager Sharon Custers said the company would work with Greater Bunbury schools and community members to put the show together with the final presentation to be held on September 15-17.

“Not only will Ochre be working with the local community to create their new work, but students and any community members who are interested will be able to watch rehearsals and see how a professional company works,” she said.

“It will be especially valuable to our local actors, directors, writers, dancers and young people who are interested in creating a live performance.”
