Residents cop sprinkler fines

South Western Times

People in the South West continue to flout sprinkler regulations despite recently imposed $100 fines for residents caught disregarding regulations.

There have been 49 infringements issued across the South West since the one-day-a-week sprinkler roster was introduced at the start of spring.

There have been 16 infringements issued since the Minister for Water announced last week that warnings would no longer be issued for people who breach the roster.

To date, 30 of the infringements have been issued in Dalyellup.

"We carry out regular patrols in every town across the region, and we often receive phone calls from people whose neighbours continue to ignore the sprinkler rules," regional business manager Scott Moorhead said.

"Nearly everyone in the South West understands how serious the water situation is here and have been very cooperative with the one-day-per week roster — it’s only a very small minority that continue to do the wrong thing."
