Bunbury-born international soccer player Josh Risdon will once again represent Australia, after being called up for the Socceroos to play in the World Cup qualifying games against Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.

The Perth Glory star received the call-up on Sunday, after toe injury has forced defender Bailey Wright out of the team.

This means Risdon will get the opportunity to play in front of a Perth crowd wearing an international kit for the first time, when they take on Iraq at NIB Stadium on Thursday.

Risdon has played three games for the Socceroos since his debut in November against Bangladesh.

The 24-year-old is one of two A-League players in the squad, along with superstar Tim Cahill.
