Risdon hopes for start in England friendly

Lincoln BertelliSouth Western Times

Bunbury soccer star Josh Risdon is about to face the biggest challenge of his career.

The 23-year-old is in the Socceroos squad preparing for a friendly international against the star-studded England team tomorrow night in the UK.

If Risdon is selected for the match, it will be his third international cap and by far the strongest opposition he has faced.

The right back could be defending against the likes of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney, Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane and Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge.

It will be played in the northern English city of Sunderland and will start at 2.45am Bunbury time on Saturday.

Even if Risdon does not make the starting 11, it will not be his only chance to impress in front of a big crowd.

The Socceroos will then return home for two further friendly matches against Greece in Sydney on June 4 and Melbourne on June 7.

The Bunbury United product has been named for both matches.
