Perth three-piece Ragdoll have been working to challenge the rock genre with their progressive sound for the past six years.

Guitarist Leon Todd and drummer Cam Barrett, who have been jamming together since 2006, found lead vocalist Ryan Rafferty performing in a cover band in 2009.

Since then, the trio have been playing shows worldwide under the Ragdoll banner with their blend of classic and hard rock.

Todd said a highlight of touring was playing at various venues, including this year’s Rocklahoma festival in Oklahoma alongside Rob Zombie and Disturbed.

“Rocklahoma is always a show we look forward to, but this year's show was particularly special,” he said.

“It was the 10th anniversary of the festival, we played lots of new material and the crowd was amazing. Definitely one to tell the grandkids about one day.”

Ragdoll have built an extensive fan base in Australia and overseas.

Todd says the group enjoys regularly travelling abroad to play in front of crowds who appreciate the rock genre.

“We've got a great set of fans and a really supportive network of friends and venues who look after us,” he said. “The Midwestern USA is one of the few places left where the music we play is alive and well.”

Ragdoll have been busy touring to promote the release of their debut studio album,Back To Zero .

They are set to unveil new songs when they return to the Prince of Wales Hotel on Saturday night.

“We love playing the Prince of Wales and it's always a high energy atmosphere there,” Todd said. “We used to play Bunbury a lot when we started out as a cover band, and playing the Prince is always a highlight.

“Bunbury crowds give crowds in the USA a run for their money when it comes to being loud and crazy.”
