A mother was outraged she was forced to pay $2 to see her two girls compete in an inter-house swimming carnival at the South West Sports Centre today.

Ocean Forest Lutheran College today held its annual swimming carnival at the South West Sports Centre and parents were told they had to pay the spectator fee to watch the competition.

Dulcie Bridges told the South Western Times it was the first time she had paid the money in the five years she had watched her children compete at the Bunbury centre.

Ms Bridges said while the money was not much she said she was not happy at the principle of having to pay to watch her children compete in a school swimming carnival.

“There was certainly a bit of grumbling when people walked through the door,” she said.

Bunbury City Council corporate and community services director John Kowal said the $2 fee helped offset service costs and monitor public access.
