Waroona District High School had reason to celebrate after the Water Corporation gave it accreditation as a Waterwise School.

Under the guidance of senior teacher and Waterwise coordinator Suzanne Perrott and with support of principal Catherine de Thierry, students learned to be more aware of water as a precious resource and the need to protect and conserve water in their daily life.

The school had worked on water conservation for some time and had installed a rainwater tank and other water-saving devices and designed gardens which need less water.

At a special assembly on March 23, Water Corporation South West regional manager John Janssen presented the award to Mrs Perrott.

Water was the theme of the Year 3/4 students' presentation at the assembly with a skit on Charles Yelverton O'Connor and his famous Goldfields pipeline.
