Reigning Inter Dominion series champion Lennytheshark could not continue his good fortune at Donaldson Park on Tuesday night, with outsider Bling It On claiming victory in heat six.

The 2015 champion finished fourth after being forced to come from the back row in the $75,000 race and could not catch the Sydney six-year-old.

Luke McCarthy, who drove Bling It On, said it was a good win.

“It is nice to get good points and we are looking forward to being in the final,” he said.

“Lennytheshark is such a good horse and is really hard to beat.

“He (Bling It On) was jogging on the line. He ran really well.”

Meanwhile, Lennytheshark’s stablemate, Hectorjayjay has become the clear favourite to win the $1.1 million TABtouch Inter Dominion final (2936m) after winning heat five in dominant fashion.

Reinsman Josh Aiken held the six-year-old gelding in first for most of the race and never eased off, claiming the win by more than six metres.

Aiken said he was pleased with the second straight heat win.

“We got a lead early and he was able to dash home which is good,” he said.

“We can now look forward to the third heat. Hopefully he goes well there.”

Aiken said the battle with Lennytheshark was something to look forward too, but was wary of other challenges.

Earlier in the night, New Zealand five-year-old Run Oneover won heat four from countryman Freyberg.
