The man accused of punching a female doctor in the face and stealing her car before attacking a Bunbury father with a shovel has told a court he does not remember his bedside hearing.

Leslie Robert Riley, 41, of Koondoola, was taken to hospital following the alleged rampage on October 24, when police said they suspected he was under the influence of a substance.

Mr Riley was being assessed by doctors at Bunbury Hospital the day after the alleged incidents and a bedside hearing was held remanding the matters until today.

Appearing in Bunbury Magistrates Court this morning via video link from Hakea Prison, Mr Riley was asked whether he remembered the bedside hearing.

Mr Riley responded ‘no’.

A doctor was forced out of her car in the hospital carpark on the morning of the incidents, when she suffered a broken nose.

The doctor’s car was then allegedly driven to College Grove where a man jumped a fence and threatened a woman holding her 10-month-old son in her backyard.

The woman’s partner tackled the intruder, before he turned on the father hitting him with a shovel several times.

In court this morning, Mr Riley asked for a two-week adjournment so he could seek legal advice.

Mr Riley has been charged with one count each of aggravated robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, obstructing police officers, stealing a motor vehicle, threatening to kill, with intent to do grievous bodily harm wounded someone, with intent to harm tried or did an act which resulted in endangering someone and trespassing.

Magistrate Brian Mahon told the court bail had not “actively” been considered yet and he remanded the matters until November 17.

Magistrate Mahon told Mr Riley to get onto legal advice “quickly” as it was “important we make progress”.
