The future of Printsync South West Slammers coaches Michael Van Lit and Juliann Bissaker will be decided at a board meeting next week.

Slammers director Carl Catalano told theSouth Western Times he would review the season with Van Lit this week and had already spoken with Bissaker about the year.

Catalano said both coaches had indicated they would like to coach again next season.

The men’s side missed this year’s play-offs after reaching last year’s grand final, while the women’s team had a development year, winning just two games.

Catalano said the men’s side had under-achieved.

“The men underperformed to not play in the play-offs,” he said.

“We (the board) were anticipating them to play in the play-offs.

“The women had an opportunity to win a couple of more games and if they had they would have finished above expectations.

“Especially as they did not have any imports.”

Catalano said despite both sides missing finals, the club was not at panic stations and both teams were undergoing a review.

“We will assess things after that,” he said. “Both coaches have indicated that they would like to go for at least another season.”

Catalano said the club had not spoken to any other coaching candidates.

“I wouldn’t even entertain it until we have done our reviews,” he said.

“No one has approached us and we have not approached anyone.”

This Friday night the Slammers will have their end of year awards.

Both teams will announce their Most Valuable Player for the season. Tre Nichols is the favourite to go back-to-back while Courtney Bayliss and Dena English are expected to battle it out for the women’s honour.
