Something for all at Bethanie’s fete

South Western Times

Homemade cakes and jams, quality jewellery and clothing and well-priced plants will all be up for grabs this weekend at the Bethanie Fields Fete.

The fete, organised by Bethanie Fields residents, raises money for village amenities and to help three local schools with their awards programs.

Bethanie Fields resident Denis Richards spends a lot of his time cultivating plants, ranging from parsley to begonias, to sell at the fete.

Mr Richards said most of his plants would be on sale for $3, with few items priced above $5.

‘‘I like doing it — the money goes towards the leisure club, which supplies things that are needed around the village and the old folks get a bit of a helping hand,’’ Mr Richards said.

Resident David Allen, one of the fete organisers, said there would be something for everyone on Saturday.

‘‘There will be an auction with items like furniture and bikes, cakes and jams for sale, and we have a bouncy castle for the kids,’’ Mr Allen said.

‘‘It is all put together by people in the village.’’

Books, CDs, teddy bears and a variety of craft items will also be for sale on Saturday, and visitors can enjoy a morning tea of scones and tea or coffee for only $3.

The fete will be held in the Bethanie Fields clubhouse and surrounding grounds at Eaton on Saturday from 8am, with the auction starting at 9am.
