Speedway revs up for sedans
A two-night sedan feast descends on Quit Bunbury Speedway this weekend with over 50 of the State’s best drivers contesting the 2013-14 Cleanaway WA Production Sedan Championship.
With so many drivers attending, Bunbury competitors Mick Hamon, Phil Rose and Wayne Thomson will have their hands full trying to contest the title event.
When it comes to title defenders, none come tougher than Matt Noakes. Hailing from Margaret River and a former Dirt Late Model competitor, he has taken the championship for the last two years running.
It will be a tough ask for South West drivers but Bunbury ace Mick Hamon is definitely no stranger to winning title races, both national and State – he is a former two-time national street stock championship winner and has one of the fastest cars in the field.
The visiting contingent boasts some of the strongest drivers in the sedan division, from places as far as Esperance, Albany and right throughout the Great Southern region of the State.
Quit Bunbury Speedway general manager Andrew Roberts said the title promised great entertainment.
“A lot of cars are here for the championship, it’s difficult to pick a winner and I personally think the racing will be tight, ” he said.
The WA Production Sedan Championship is the last in a long line of blue ribbon events for the 2013-14 season at the Bunbury venue.
Gates open at 4pm with racing beginning at 6pm.
