Sustainable success is the goal of Eaton Boomers coach Glen Dehring and a win this weekend against fellow strugglers Augusta-Margaret River would help show they are on the right track.

After two premierships in 2014-15, the Boomers have gone south on the ladder, but are looking at the future and building a strong team based on talent from the region.

Dehring said the club’s powerbrokers had decided the club would put in place a plan started by former coach Richard Barnard two years ago.

“We are happy to run with this plan and hope it holds the club in good stead,” he said.

Dehring believes the Boomers can return to the success they enjoyed before this season if they continued this way.

“I would like to think in two to three years time we could be knocking on the door of a premiership again,” he said.

“Take out last weekend and we haven’t been blown out of the water. We have been playing some really good football in periods.”

Dehring said a win this weekend would mean a lot to the young players.

“I would love to see the boys get a win on the board because they have been working really hard and it would be good for their confidence,” he said.

If the Boomers are to win, they will have to do it without rising midfielder Sam Harris, who Dehring confirmed would miss a lengthy period after suffering an AC joint injury two weekends ago against Busselton.
