Student artists join forces
Colourful and interesting artwork from talented Edith Cowan University South West art students has gone on display at the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries.
The exhibition called Painting 2 features work from 15 students, who were involved in all parts of the exhibition right up to its opening on Friday.
ECU South West lecturer Susan Ecker said the artwork was completed during a 13-week course with one piece chosen from each student.
“They worked hard to put the show together including planning it and setting it up,” she said.
“Some of the students are in the first year of their bachelor of arts while some are in their last year but they were all committed.
“During the first seven weeks of the course they chose a subject which they had to create two artworks about which they then brought the ideas to me but I feel they had a lot of flexibility.”
Ms Ecker said the idea of creating the exhibition was to get the students to work together to help the creative process.
“They criticised each other and helped each other but they did it in a lovely, affectionate way, it was like an old fashioned studio,” she said.
