Sun shines for hotel’s welcome return

The highly-anticipated reopening of one of Bunbury’s most iconic pubs could not have been better timed with a glimpse of summer keeping punters happy at the weekend.

The Parade Hotel reopened its doors on Thursday after closing without notice more than 18-months ago.

Renowned for its ‘Sunday sessions’, the weekend provided the perfect weather for the water-side pub.

Owner Ali Gatti said the first days under new management had been “positive”, despite some teething problems.

“We were very happy with the response,” Ms Gatti said.

“We had the normal teething problems you can expect, but we’re hoping to iron those out and grow from there.”

The iconic venue has been completely renovated, with new bar and restaurant layouts and refurbishment of the outside seating areas.

Ms Gatti said work on the building’s upstairs area was next on the agenda.

While she ruled out the return of the popular Summer Girl competition for upcoming events, Ms Gatti said a free one-hour acoustic set from Australian rock band The Rubens was planned for December 9.
