People with an eye for art will be able to view a renowned West Australian artist's collection spanning 25 years.

Bunbury Regional Art Galleries is showcasing the work of Douglas Chambers in the exhibition Unfinished Business, opening April 17.

Curator Catherine Czerw said a wide range of pieces would be on display in the artist's first-ever solo exhibition.

"The exhibit will give a really good insight into an artist's life and body of work over 25 years," she said.

The London-born 80-year-old moved to Balingup 19 years ago.

Mrs Czerw said the exhibition would show the development and evolution of Mr Chambers' work.

"The great thing with this exhibit is you can see how Douglas' environment has changed since moving to the South West, through his art," she said.

"His use of subject matter and colour has changed with being in Balingup and around things like bees and spring."

Included in the exhibition is Mr Chambers' oldest piece - displayed in 1991 at his last exhibition at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

Mrs Czerw said a short movie about the life of Mr Chambers in Balingup and some of his personal reflections would also be shown.

The exhibition runs from April 18 until May 24.
