Cricketers across the South West will honour fallen Australian Test batsman Phillip Hughes this weekend ahead of a big round of cricket.

The Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association has asked clubs to honour the deceased 25-year-old with a minute's silence before each game, at both senior and junior level.

The Busselton Margaret River Cricket Association teams will wear black armbands and observe a minute silence before this weekend's games.Hughes died on Thursday from a severe brain injury after being struck by a cricket ball while playing for South Australia against NSW.

The incident has shocked cricketing communities across the world, with doubt now thrown over next week’s first Test match against India.
