SWFL - Round 10 Wrap

JOSH ZIMMERMANSouth Western Times

The Augusta-Margaret River Hawks opened the cellar door with their first win of the season, beating Donnybrook 15.7 (97) to 7.6 (48) at Gloucester Park on Saturday.

The Hawks continually mixed up their attack with their back men playing forward at different times to tear the Dons defence to shreds.

Also on Saturday, Bunbury overcame injuries to Corey McGuire and Jordan Adamson-Holmes to down a gallant Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault 10.15 (75) to 7.7 (49) at Brunswick Oval.

The Lions fought hard but could not stop the undefeated Bulldogs who pulled away in the second half despite an inaccurate evening for Marc Re who finished with 2.5.

Busselton trampled a listless Harvey Bulls 21.10 (136) to 7.6 (48) at the Harvey Recreation Ground on Sunday.

The Magpies put together a 10-goal final quarter to cement their place in the top half of the ladder with small forward Sean Trombetta finishing with a bag of seven.

In a dour struggle at the Collie Recreation Ground it was the Eaton Boomers who emerged victorious after scrambling a point in the last two minutes to record a 7.10 (52) to 7.9 (51) victory over the Eagles.

It was a disappointing finale for the home side who went into the game missing some important players but gained some comfort from the performance of an emerging crop of talented youngsters.

In a game that shaped up as an opportunity for Carey Park to answer questions about its premiership credentials it was South Bunbury that did all the talking, dominating the stoppages to emerge 84-point winners at Kelly Park on Sunday.

Brothers Adam and Dylan Harper could not have asked for a better way to celebrate reaching 100 league games for the Tigers, bringing up the milestone in an 18.16 (124) to 5.10 (40) battering of the hapless Panthers.
