Donnybrook sprang the upset of the season on Sunday, surprising finals-bound Bunbury to claim a two-point victory and win the Peter Betti Cup at VC Mitchell Park.

The Dons’ played most of the 11.13 (79) to 10.17 (77) triumph on their terms and, despite losing the lead briefly in the last quarter, were the better side.

New key forward Daniel Billson, from Victoria, was unveiled for the Dons and had a huge impact early including four first-quarter goals. He finished the afternoon with six.

The loss means Bunbury squandered a chance to lock away a top-five berth. They play Eaton this weekend before a clash against Augusta-Margaret River in round 18 which will likely decide fifth spot.

At Hands Oval the Hawks trailed South Bunbury by eight points at half-time but rallied to record a 13.8 (86) to 14.9 (93) win.

In claiming the victory, Augusta-Margaret River kept their season alive and lifted themselves to sixth position on the ladder, two wins behind the fifth-placed Bulldogs.

Meanwhile Busselton snapped a two-match losing streak and put its premiership campaign back on track with a comprehensive 119-point thrashing of Harvey Bulls at Harvey on Sunday.

The Magpies were never threatened in the 22.17 (149) to 4.6 (30) win against a brave Bulls' outfit that featured seven members of their Colts' team.

Eaton kept itself on top of the ladder with a hard-fought seven-point victory over Carey Park, also on Sunday.

The Boomers led at every change at Glen Huon Reserve. The 7.8 (50) to 8.9 (57) means Eaton are in pole position for the minor premiership and week off in the first round of the finals.

On Saturday night, the Eagles notched an impressive 28.15 (183) to 6.6 (42) triumph over Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault at the Collie Recreation Ground.
