SWFL Round 5 Wrap Up

South Western Times

South Bunbury caused one of the upsets of the season on Saturday night, defeating Busselton by three points in heavy rain at Sir Stewart Bovell Park.

The Tigers held off the depleted Magpies in the last half and survived a late scare by inaccurate forward Brent Snook to win 4.7 (31) to 3.10 (28).

Augusta-Margaret River held on for a tense three-point win over Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault on Saturday night at Brunswick Oval.

Kicking with the wind and trailing by only four points heading into the last quarter, the Lions were favourites to claim victory but the Hawks won it 7.9 (51) to 6.12 (48).

Donnybrook ended Carey Park’s unbeaten start to 2015 and emphasised their own finals credentials after a 17 point win on Sunday.

The home side outran the Panthers in the final quarter to post a 17.3 (105) to 13.10 (88) success in a match that resembled a shootout at times and a fierce contest at others.

The Harvey Bulls smashed a lowly Collie Eagles outfit by 53 points at the Collie Recreation Ground on Sunday afternoon.

With only spatters of showers across the afternoon, Harvey were able to implement their running game from start to finish to comfortably win 14.12 (96) to 5.13 (43).

Blake Piggott led the way for the Eaton Boomers at Payne Park on Sunday, as the experience of the Boomers was too much for the spirited Bunbury youth as they ran out winners by 83 points.

Piggott floated around the front half for most of the day finding space and touch to get on his way booting eight goals as Eaton won 18.9 (117) to 3.6 (24).
