SWFL Round 7 wrap
Carey Park got back on the winner’s list after a hard-fought 25-point victory over the Harvey Bulls on Sunday at the Harvey Recreation Ground.
The Bulls had their noses in front the long break after using the breeze well in the second term, but did not kick a goal in the second half in damp conditions.
Arron Hill was lively up forward with three goals for the Panthers in the 8.9 (57) to 4.8 (32) triumph while Braden Lawler was tenacious around the stoppages in a best-on-ground performance.
Dean Miller worked hard for Harvey while Brett Lofthouse had the better of his duel with Carey Park full forward Matthew Martin, whom he held to two goals.
Eaton claimed their seventh straight victory, crushing Busselton 18.14 (122) to 5.7 (38) at Glen Huon Reserve.
Jacob Ferrier continued his hot run of form with five goals for the Boomers, who were also well served by Jye Cormack and Kieran Butcher.
Midfield dangerman Daniel McGinlay was Busselton’s best.
The Collie Eagles claimed their fourth consecutive victory after a 36-point win over Bunbury at the Collie Recreation Ground.
Blair Malatesta booted four majors in the 11.19 (85) to 7.7 (49) victory as the Eagles talls Paul Lindsay, Alex Tweedie and Matt Burek all shone.
Jesse Gribble turned in a four-quarter effort for Bunbury while the scoreline could have been worse but for the defensive work of Cody Hay, Matt Whitbread, Grady Byrne and Riley Hutchinson.
South Bunbury cruised to a 17.10 (112) to 8.7 (55) victory over Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault at Hands Oval.
Blake Seroka, Tyson Lee, Damon Bull and centre half-back Ryan Smith all shone for the Tigers.
Daniel Kerr booted three goals for the Lions while Travis Obal and Aaron Murphy were also solid.
On Saturday afternoon, Tim Noakes overcame slippery conditions to boot six goals and lead Augusta-Margaret River to a 12.10 (82) to 9.10 (64) victory over Donnybrook.
After being held at arms-length for much of the game, Donnybrook gave the Hawks a scare in the final term at Gloucester Park.
Four quick goals slashed the margin to less than one straight kick, but the home team steadied to hold on for an important triumph.
Curtis Guglielmana was Donnybrook’s best while Cody Enders and Mark Semini worked hard for the Hawks.
