SWFL Team of the Year
Tough decisions were made and quality players missed out, but the South West Football League's Team of the Year is a formidable side.
The South Western Times expert football reporters sat down and went through the season to pick the best 22 for 2015.
A long and arduous process of reviewing the games took place and the reporters have come up with this year's South Western Times SWFL Team of the Year.
The Times crew began with the backline and could not go past reliable Harvey Bulls full back Brett Lofthouse who had some big scalps during the year.
Carey Park backman Matt Cavedon was also added to the team because of his defensive marking ability and his strong reading of the play, with teammate Fabian Hart in the other pocket as a rebounding backman with impressive skills.
Across half-back it was Landmark Carnival vice-captain Simon Parry who was given the big role at centre-half back, with swingman Brandon Jetta on one flank and the improved Blake Piggott from the Eaton Boomers on the other.
Possibly the hardest place on the ground to select a player for was in the centre.
The _Times' _ experts could not go past Hayward Medal runner-up Graham Jetta as the main man, while Josh Krispyn and Daniel Leishman were pushed out to the wings because of the strength in the centre.
Augusta-Margaret River ruckman Dan Atkinson got the nod over Bulls' tall Andrew McDougall, who was placed on the bench in what would be a strong rotation in any team.
At Atkinson's feet is Busselton captain Dan McGinlay and Hayward Medallist Chris Kane, who were easy choices in this year's side.
The team's forward line centres around Carey Park spearhead Matt Martin, who was clearly the best full forward of the year with 80 goals.
In the pockets is Eaton Boomers' goalsneak Jace Cormack and Hawks' playing-coach Hamish Shepheard, who was pushed forward because of a lack of spots in the midfield.
Collie Eagles swingman Matt Michael is placed at centre-half forward, with Boomers co-captain Chris Atthowe and South Bunbury best and fairest winner Shaun Crane adding to an already strong side.
Joining McDougall on the bench is the improved Eagle Travis Cleggett, as well as Eaton Boomers' defender Kane Bloxsidge and young gun Denholm King.
