Hands Oval will host a historic match on Saturday, when Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault and the Harvey Bulls clash in the South West Football League’s first twilight final.

With Brunswick Oval still not suitable to host a final, the league decided to have the first semi-final derby contest at the home of South West football from 4.40pm, with the loser’s season finished.

The Lions’ colts team will take on Bunbury from 12.10pm and their reserves side will battle the Eaton Boomers from 2.20pm, with the winners of both clashes to play in the respective grand finals, on September 25.

SWFL general manager John Vidos said the league was breaking tradition in a positive way with the historic move.

“We are trying to put local football on the centre stage,” he said.

“I would imagine the town of Harvey will be in Bunbury that night for the game.”

On Sunday, South Bunbury will battle the Collie Eagles at Hands Oval at the traditional time of 2.20pm in the second-semi final, with the winner to go straight into this year’s grand final.

The Tigers have defeated the Eagles on both occasions this season, but Collie’s three-point thrilling victory against the Lions has them with momentum.

In the reserves, Carey Park will battle Bunbury in the sudden-death first semi-final, while in the colts Augusta-Margaret River and South Bunbury will clash, with their seasons on the line.
