SWFL welcomes new president

Mitchell Woodcock, SOUTH WESTERN TIMESSouth Western Times

For the first time in 22 seasons the South West Football League has a new president, with vice-president Barry Tate taking over the role at the annual general meeting last night.

Tate will be the seventh president of the league, after Kevin Lynn decided not to run for the post and there were no other nominees.

Tate will be joined by former Carey Park president Darren Kenny and 2015 executive member Alan Swarbrick who will be his deputies for the 2016 season.

Rounding out the executive is Shaun Quaiffe, Kevin Nettleton and Darrel Cockram.

Laurie Parravicini will continue as registrar and John Vidos is still general manager.

Lynn is the longest serving president in SWFL history, having taken over in 1994 season, breaking Bob Black’s record of 18 years earlier this century.

Tate told the South Western Times before the AGM that he wanted to bring a new direction to the league to ensure its reputation as the best league outside the Perth metropolitan area.
