SWIMMING: Dolphins take on Pacific hopefuls

Four young Bunbury swimmers will compete against the best in the country when they represent WA at the Pacific School Games in Adelaide next month.

Elliott Todesco and Zarly Clark, both 16, and Courtney, 15, and Kyle Lee, 13, will travel to Adelaide in November for the games, which brings international and interstate teams together to compete in nine different sports.

The swimmers are part of the Performance Squad with the Golden West Dolphins swimming club and coach Mike Warnock said they trained well and were a supportive group.

"They do work hard and they are very enthusiastic and the key to it is having good squad support," he said.

Each of the swimmers will be competing in a number of events, with Warnock training the squad for eight sessions a week, before and after school.

A keen backstroker, Courtney is one of 38 National Talent ID Squad swimmers from WA and she will be competing in the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke races.

"I'm very excited," she said.

"It would be nice to get a medal but I'm mainly looking for PBs.

"We all get along really well so it will be lots of fun."

Her brother Kyle will be competing in a massive 16 events, with Elliott set to swim the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley, and Zarly the 50m and 100m freestyle, 50m and 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly.

The swimmers will travel to Adelaide on November 20 for a training day ahead of the week-long competition from November 21-27.
