Tate heads up SWFL again
Barry Tate is the president of the South West Football League for successive seasons after being the only nomination at the annual general meeting on Thursday night.
Darren Kenny will continue as senior vice-president and Alan Swarbrick junior vice-president.
There was major changes to rest of the executive, with Darryl Cockram standing down and Kevin Nettleton failing to receive enough votes to be appointed.
Shaun Quiafe, Darren Wedderburn and George Viscka will make up the rest of the executive in 2017.
In his president’s report, Tate called 2016 a “learning phase” and praised the efforts of the inexperienced executive.
“I believe as a collective we made inroads into where we want to go in the coming years,” he said.
Tate highlighted a drop in spending on the Landmark Championships by $15,000 and the work done on a five-year strategic plan as highlights of his tenure.
Bunbury’s Bob Hislop and Busselton Football Club president Rob Witten will resume their places on the match and finance committees for 2017, with a third position to be filled in each.
