Teenager Maddison Hinson-Tolchard was the talk of the Bunbury Golf Club at the weekend after winning the 50th Bunbury Bowl.

The 14-year-old, who plays out of the Gosnells Country Club, hit 78 in the stroke-play event, with women from around the State competing in the prestigious event.

The Bunbury Bowl is open to women golfers who have a handicap of 18 or less.

Hinson-Tolchard said she was happy with her score considering the tough conditions.

“It was pretty tough out there,” she said.

“The rain kicked in around the last nine holes. I was on about the 14th. That made it a bit hard.”

The teenager said she had a couple of good holes during the day, with the birdies on a couple of par five holes the highlight.

“My best birdie was probably on (hole) 17,” she said.

“I hit a pretty solid drive and then a good shot out of the bunker which set me up for a good putt.”

Previous winners include Minjee Lee, who is on the Women’s professional tour circuit.
