Redfin are being caught in Wellington Dam, with slow trolling deep diving lures proving effective.

Kayaks are perfect for this style of fishing being extremely quiet through the water makes them less noticeable to fish meaning more strikes.

Stay parallel to the banks and keep to a depth of around 4-6m.

Squid are out and about in Geographe Bay but with the constant weather change it is making it tough for fishos to get out there. Picking the right days will be sure to produce a decent feed – with clear water the key to success.

Squid prefer the clear water makes sighting out there prey (your squid jigs) easier for them so having clearer water conditions is key.

The wild weather will draw pink snapper in closer and using chumming berley and fresh bait will improve your chances to land these popular fish.

Best baits for snapper are definitely mulies or fresh squid.

They will also hit most other baits including herring, skippy, cuttlefish, sargent baker and octopus.

Mulloway are being reported in the Busselton area with a 19kg fish landed of recently. Live baits are a popular method as well as fresh baits such as herring, squid, salmon fillets and tailor.

With rough and unpredictable seas take care when launching your boat and while driving along the beach.

There have been reports of cars being swept into the sea while launching.
