Customers at Mercedes-Benz Bunbury got a rare sight on Tuesday afternoon when South Bunbury Football Club president Jeff Hayres was seen washing a car.

Hayres was paying a fun bet he has with Bunbury vice-president Daniel Johnston every derby, with Hayres seen soaping up an E-Class Mercedes at the Bunbury Football Club sponsor's dealership, all in good jest.

For the past three years it has not only been the players who have suffered, as the pair have traded embarrassing blows which has seen public sing-alongs of the rivals club songs as well as memberships purchased as pay-outs for the bets.

Hayres had only just arrived back from a working holiday that morning when he was informed of his beloved Tigers' loss and the debt he was forced to pay.

Resplendent in a Bulldogs jumper, Hayres cleaned the car while Johnston pointed out any missed spots.

Both sides have struggled so far this season, with just four wins between the two clubs from the first seven rounds.

But the close affair on WA Day made for an exciting clash and left both board members of their respective clubs excited for the future of their sides.
