Top 10 things to do this week...
It’s great weather to enjoy our beautiful region, and lots of food and wine, singing and dancing in our Top 10 - and of course Andre Rieu!
1. Foreshore festivities
Enjoy the last weekend of spring by getting some sunshine at Eaton Foreshore on Saturday.
The Spring Out Family Fun Fest will be a day of non-stop fun for kids of all ages and the young at heart.
Activities including bubble soccer, rock climbing, giant board games and laser tag are set to make this a day to remember.
Entry is free and it will run between 11.30am and 3.30pm.
2. White tie gala dinner
Don your white tie for a gala dinner aiming to raise money for domestic violence services.
The South West White Tie Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday night at Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.
An art auction and speech by advocate Dr Ann O’Neill will feature on the night.
This is a new event for Bunbury in collaboration with White Ribbon Day and a two-day conference being hosted at BREC.
3. Food and wine
Donnybrook will be a food and wine lover’s paradise on Saturday.
Head along to sample the region’s best produce including wines at Donnybrook Food and Wine Fest.
There will also be entertainment, children’s activities, talks and specialty stalls.
Entry is free and the event runs between 10am and 5pm at Donnybrook Amphitheatre.
4. Speedway
Head along to Quit Bunbury Speedway on Saturday night for the second straight weekend of racing.
The season will kick further into action with the Dan Love Summer Cup and South West Sedan Championships among the evening’s highlights.
Tickets can be bought at the gate for a night of high action and excitement.
Gates will open at 4pm and racing starts at 6pm.
5. Christmas Snow
Salvation Army’s building on Timperley Road will become a movie theatre on Friday afternoon.
The 2010 filmA Christmas Snow will be screened from 1pm with tickets available for $5 on the day.
Snacks and cold drinks are available to buy, and snacks excluding popcorn can also be brought along.
A free afternoon tea will be put on after the film.
6. Family fun
Head along to Des Ugle Park on Saturday for an afternoon of family fun.
It will be an early Christmas celebration at the Westwood Street park between 12pm-4pm.
Designed to be a family friendly event, there will also be free entertainment and everyone is invited.
7. Craft fair
Secure an early and unique Christmas present at Stirling Street Arts Centre on Sunday.
The Act-Belong-Commit Christmas Craft Fair will include plenty of market stalls offering art, crafts, pottery, plants, food and plenty more.
It will take place between 9am and 3pm.
8. ‘Sing-Lo’ to open
Bunbury Repertory Club’s newest production opens on Saturday afternoon.
Sing-Lo and the Dragon is a family pantomime featuring an all-ages cast and will run for four shows only over two weeks.
Written by a Busselton playwright, it includes dragons, villains, heroes, a fairy godmother and has an underlying Chinese theme.
Tickets can be bought online or at the Little Theatre door ahead of shows at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday.
9. Cricket action
Last season’s champions will take on this season’s early leaders in Round 8 of the Bunbury and Districts Cricket Association’s First Grade competition.
The league’s 2015-16 winners Hay Park will have home ground advantage when they host the impressive Eaton side on Saturday afternoon.
Dalyellup Beach will be at home to Colts while Marist will tackle Leschenault at Forrest Park North.
All matches will begin at 12.30pm.
10. Andre Rieu
Andre Rieu will be on the Grand Cinemas Bunbury screens for a special performance this weekend.
The Dutch violinist and conductor’s Christmas with Andre concert will provide fans with a 90-minute delight, including all of the most loved Christmas carols.
Cinema audiences will also be taken on a tour of Maastricht, Rieu’s home town, and can hear him answer question submitted by cinema audiences. The concert will be screened at 11am on both Saturday and Sunday.
