More than 10,000km into an epic journey, cyclist Glenn Carter was wearing a warm grin and bursting with enthusiasm as he rode through Bunbury on Friday.

In April 2013, Mr Carter's heart broke with the news that close family friend and keen equestrian Emma Booth, 24, was involved in a serious car crash, leaving her a paraplegic and wheelchair-bound.

Mr Carter, 50, decided to organise Ride With No Limits - a sponsored cycle around Australia to raise money for Emma and her dream to compete in the 2016 Rio Paralympics as a para-equestrian.

"She's a pretty courageous kid," Mr Carter said.

"She's a real ambassador not just for young people but for kids with spinal injuries or other injuries.

"Within two years she's been able to completely turn the life that she's been dealt into such a positive."

Mr Carter, a keen triathlon competitor, left Wantirna, Victoria on April 18 and followed Highway 1 around Australia's coastline, with the hope of completing the journey back to Wantirna in 70 days, by June 24.

Ride With No Limits has raised almost $90,000 which allowed Ms Booth, who was a reserve rider at last year's World Equestrian Games, to buy a horse and cover physiotherapy, gym and training costs.

Ms Booth, who surprised Mr Carter by joining him in Bunbury, was thrilled with the support.

"It's just incredible, it just shows the generosity of people," Ms Booth said.

"It's giving me every chance for selection."
