The brigade has 20 volunteers but is calling for more to step forward ahead of what they expect will be a busy season.

Brigade captain Terri Kowal said now was the perfect time for anyone interested to put their hand up because it took time to train volunteers to a fire-ready level.

‘‘We’re ready to go, just with the bigger fires, the more members we’ve got to pull from for relief crews obviously the easier it is,’’ Mrs Kowal said.

Volunteers attend an average of 20 bushfires a season, often travelling to help other brigades.

First Lieutenant Milo Kitto said there was a great sense of camaraderie among brigade members.

‘‘I came down and joined the brigade and absolutely love it,’’ he said.

‘‘It’s satisfying to walk away from a job and know you’ve helped someone.’’

Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Captain Terri Kowal on 9725 6389.
