A head Vietnam delegate has labelled Bunbury a “very liveable city” after stopping in the region on Tuesday.

Delegates from the Vietnam Northwest Development Committee, Consulate General of Vietnam in Perth and Central Committee for External Affairs of the Communist Party of Vietnam, met with Bunbury’s economic leaders during the half-day trip.

After a discussion with South West Development Commission representatives, development committee chief executive officer Duong Mong Huyen told theSouth Western Times he agreed with claims Bunbury was very liveable.

Mr Huyen said the aim of the visit was to learn about the trades of Bunbury to recommend opportunities to Vietnam enterprises to invest in the region.

It was also to attract South West investment in Vietnam.

After meeting Mayor Gary Brennan on Tuesday morning, the five delegates walked to the Bunbury Tower to discuss regional integration and planning and infrastructure projects between State and local governments and community organisations with SWDC.

Mr Huyen said the visit was a good opportunity to strengthen the country’s friendship with the South West.

“Bunbury has made a very good impression ... it’s a very peaceful city with friendly people,” he said.

SWDC industry and business strategic manager Patrick Warrand said the visit was an important opportunity.
