Vinyl revival creative fundraiser
The Val Lishman Health Research Foundation is calling on artists to transform vinyl records into art for a fundraising event to benefit breast cancer survivors.
Using old vinyl discs donated by ABC South West, local creative talents are being challenged to make wearable, functional and creative items.
Submitted works will be displayed at Bunbury Regional Art Galleries in April and either sold through a silent auction run in conjunction with the A Night on the Vinyl exhibition or auctioned off at the A Night on the Vinyl music-themed games and quiz night.
Funds raised through the sale of works will go towards supporting research to improve the wellbeing of breast cancer survivors in regional Australia.
VLHRF executive director Graham Fisher encouraged people to put their imaginations towork to come up with a striking piece for the fundraiser.
‘‘This is a fun way of raising money for a cause we can all relate to,’’ he said.
‘‘We invite students, hobbyists and professional artists to submit works for this exciting charity art project.’’
Mr Fisher said a bit of creation would go a long way to help improve the lives of people touched by breast cancer.
Artworks must be completed and delivered to the Bunbury Regional Art Galleries on April 17, for more information call Sharon Kennedy on 0427 363 306.
