WA continued its vice-like grip on underwater hockey at national level last month in Sydney, with the Sandgropers claiming four gold medals from a possible five.

And in typical fashion, the South West — especially Bunbury — provided some of the best players at the tournament across all divisions.

Although all sides performed exceptionally well, Clayton Jendrzejak’s under-19s were easily the most dominant on their road to claiming gold, with rival defences powerless to stop them.

Bunbury-based skipper James Iredale claimed MVP for the division, which received a ringing endorsement from his coach.

WA was also crowned “champion State” following the titles.
