Hay Park coach Chris Waddingham has continued his strong form, leading the Redbacks to their second-straight win when they defeated Dalyellup Beach by 37 runs at Hay Park on Saturday.

Waddingham took 5-28 off 9.4 overs to help the Redbacks defend a modest total of 199, bringing Dalyellup’s chase to an end on 162.

The Redbacks won the toss and elected to bat, a move which looked to have paid dividends until skipper Jono Whitney (18) was given out leg before off the bowling of Dan Lomax with the score on 39.

But solid top and middle order contributions by Michael Tassone (29), Kris Miller (33), Dave Taylor (34) and Ashley Sbizzirri (39) led the home side to 9/199 off their 40 overs.

Dan Lomax bowled well for the visitors, taking 3-27 off his seven overs, while Liam Renton and Adam Bilston took two scalps each.

Skipper Ben Cooper was tight with his bowling, taking 1-18 off 10 overs.

Dalyellup’s run chase started positively, with Tom Cooper and Ben Lagana having a solid opening stand of 27 before the latter was run out by Miller.

Murray Tennent Brown was dismissed for just one, bringing Scott Harber to the crease, who batted well to score 65, but it was all in vein as Waddingham tore through the middle and lower order to dismiss Dalyellup for 162 off 36.4 overs.
