Timed to coincide with the NRL’s Women in League Round, the club will use the occasion to thank the dozens of ladies who are involved with the Warriors while also raising money for one of Australia’s most well-known women’s charities.
In a similar fundraiser held last year, the Warriors auctioned off custom-made yellow and red jerseys to raise $5000 for Ronald McDonald House and club president Melvin Bignold hopes to repeat that effort again on Saturday at the Recreation Ground.
“This fundraiser is an opportunity for the club to thank all of the women who contribute so much to the South West Warriors, ” Bignold said.
“We wouldn’t even have a club without the support of the many mothers, wives, sisters and girlfriends who volunteer their time and effort to the Warriors.
“We also have a women’s side who give their all each and every week out on the field.”
In a sign of the strength of the women’s Warriors side, three South West players – Toni Morgan, Megan Kremer and Zealandrea Wikitoria Marks – have been selected to represent WA in the Australian OzTag Championships next month.
